International gospel music icon, Donnie McClurkin recounts some painful experiences in the past including being blamed for the untimely death of his beloved brother by his mother.
The Award-winning gospel singer made this revelation known during his new YouTube series ‘Tracked’ after being asked what his very painful past experience was. Donnie who was very emotional at this point spoke about the whole incident and noted that he knew at that point calling on the name of the Lord could save him.
“The residue of my brother being killed in front of our house at two years old, hit by a car following me, and my mother telling me I killed her son” said Donnie, “And then 3 days after, on the day of my brother’s funeral at 8-yrs-old, the three rapes in one night by my great uncle. That residue stay with me throughout the rest of my childhood”
Fortunately and through God’s Grace Donnie found a way of escape during his teen years. He got hooked onto playing musical instruments and singing.
He also recounted the moments of depression as a teenager, but according to the “There is God” singer , there is a hymnal that mostly jumps to him as he plays on the piano.
“Sweet hour of prayer
Sweet hour of prayer
That calls me from a world of care
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known
In seasons of distress and grief
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By Thy return, sweet hour of prayer”
“Whenever depression would hit me, at a teenage, that was always my goto song”. Donnie Added.
