American gospel singer and award-winning gospel artist, Israel Houghton with the New Breed family, shares a new song “Hymn of Breakthrough” before releasing his live album on February 26th.
“Hymn of Breakthrough” is a slow and resplendent performance, as he finds Houghton leading a small group of band members, family and friends in a contemplative epiphany digging his heels all the way, savoring every step up toward her illustration of the “Breakthrough Sound” that inspires her. The sense of family and unity at the heart of the building’s performance is a testament to not only the legendary gospel artist’s nearly 25-year career, but the way he took his community, family and band to the top by his side.
Israel has also announced pre-orders for his upcoming live album Feels Like Home: The Quarantine Worship Experience. The album, to be released on February 26, is derived from a hugely successful live event called Israel & New Breed last year that electrified the intimate setting of # WorshipWednesdays for a three-hour concert / cult.
Feels Like Home was broadcast live from Hutton’s sister-in-law’s New York home last November with an impressive cast of New Breed fashionable and new musicians, all of whom agreed to quarantine and test for COVID-19 before the rally. Performing the entire show facing each other in a circle, the impromptu indolence and sheer inspiration of the session is a warm and glowing reminder of the gospel’s intimate roots as a shared religious celebration and experience.
